The 151 workers at Google Express in Palo Alto, employed through contractor Adecco, sought out the Teamsters for help with improving working conditions and treatment on the job. ........The next step for Teamsters-represented Google Express workers is to negotiate a contract to improve their working conditions, as tech industry workers throughout Silicon Valley have done in recent months. Facebook shuttle drivers, employed through Loop Transportation, became members of Local 853 in November. In February, they ratified their first, industry-leading agreement, which raised average pay to $27.50 an hour, including split differential, up from $18 an hour. Shuttle drivers for Apple, eBay, Yahoo, Zynga, Genentech, Amtrak and Evernote, employed through Compass Transportation, voted overwhelmingly in February to join Local 853. On Aug. 1, the workers unanimously approved a union proposal for a first contract that encompasses the economic package from the Facebook agreement—including hourly pay increases over the three-year contract; shift differential pay; a six-hour minimum for drivers who do not work split shifts; and employer contributions to a defined pension plan, among other gains... .....AND THIS GOES OUT TO THE MECHANICS...WAKE THE HELL UP AND MAKE A STAND .STOP BEING A BUNCH OF KISS ASS BITCHES .LOOK AT WHAT THE DRIVER GOT WITH A CONTRACT.IT TOOK CONWAY 40years to give us shift differential. And that’s thanks to LAREDO TX.IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW MUCH YOU WORKED OR HOW MUCH ASS KISSING YOU DID.IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE UNION THREAT

Funny the mechanic at XME isn't a conway employee yet he is his own boss and conways pays for his work as a contractor. Besides sitting in his truck smoking cigarettes and talking on his phone all day. He does manage to glance at a tractor from time to time but only to call in two young(that look like some back alley mechanics) to do the actual work. Yes I'm talking about Lance at XME TM Jeff's buddy. Wake up people it doesn't matter what terminal we talk about the same shit is happening every where. We all have a Larry(HR at XME) that doesn't do shit. We all have a Jeff(TM at XME) that treats employees like crap and comes up with separate rules for kool aid drinkers. We all have a Mark(FOS at XME) that looks the other way when kool aid drinkers break the rules. We all have a Gerry(DSR at XME) that doesn't do shit all day gets 50-60 a week and never steps foot in a tractor. We all have a Corey King&Corey Brown(full time dock workers at XME) that break every single rule conway has but still have their jobs. WAKE UP ALL CONWAY EMPLOYEES AT ALL TERMINALS I bet my shitty 401k and the bullshit 3% conway matches us that you have guys like this at your hub. Call your local union, get a campaign started, go to union meetings, get union cards signed and show Conway YOU'RE TIRED OF THEIR SHIT AND THE KOOL AID DRINKERS SHIT TOO.

UWS lost the vote.Not sure what happened.Hell yeah some of US are still PRO-UNION.I will not let some defeat deter me and others from having a CONTRACT and REPRESENTATION for a BETTER working environment and economic living.and it's obvious that by you coming here and asking what happen that I'm not alone in this battle for a BETTER Conway FUTURE.I want to thank everyone who wants to change Conway and is standing strong to the believe that by having REPRESENTATION we will make the change for the BETTER...

..Drivers, plant operators and fillers at the Airgas [NYSE: ARG] facility in Islandia, N.Y., have voted to join Teamsters Local 282. The successful effort was the culmination of hard work by the organizing committee and business agent Mike Bourgal.
“Nationwide, this company has recently changed their attitude toward their hardworking, loyal workforce and this vote is an example of what happens when employers disrespect their employees,” said Keith Gleason, Director of the Teamsters Tankhaul Division.
“These workers recognized the only path to dignity, respect and security on the job was to join the 40 other bargaining units represented by the Teamsters at Airgas facilities,” Bourgal said.
Contract negotiations will begin as soon as the vote is certified.
Airgas Inc., headquartered in Radnor, Pa., is the largest U.S. distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases, employing more than 16,000 workers.

Im wondering if anyone has actually used the new website AskJoe?What we should all do (pro and non Union supporters)is we should all AskJoe is when will there be a policy stating yearly raises,old style bonuses(2,500 to 3,000 not no 75.00 dollars),Low cost benefits,and some kind of retirement(not the crappy 401 that Conway runs off)?We should all ask on tuesday after labor day.Or is everyone to chicken to ask for that too?Since most at Conway trust Joe lets see what his answer is for everyone to read?

Yeah we lost half our 401 now try writing that into your taxes as a loss and see what happens.But Conway will be writing our loss in their tax filling as a loss and they'll get a big bonus out of our loss.But according to conway what do we need retirement for ?We have this great 401 that you put your money into so Conway can use it without out any risk.But we lose our retirement money.And people are still voting No to having a contract that will give us some kind of insurance to have something to retire with.

I remember when i trust got my strips(uniform) how proud i was to put it on because i earned it. I started as a temp part time dock worker got my strips as a full time dock worker then went into the dsr training program. I was proud to tell people i worked for Conway. And now i can't stand being a employee do to all the mistreatment,favoritism and all the other bullshit that goes on. If it wasn't for my seniority and the look on my TM's face when the union comes through the door I would have been gone.

I'm alarmed for everyone, I'm sure Con-way management is looking at this small level of frustration and laughing at how these no votes happen. My biggest gripe is someone always seems to throw the towel in and say it's pointless to fight and risk losing your job over protecting yourself. Deep down in my heart, Conway needs a Union!!! I have to agree that it's workforce is the most gullible set of dumbass truck drivers in the industry. These no votes prove it. The companies such as YRC & ABF never looked so good. Con-way has put a cap on your earnings potential!! I make only as much money as I did when I started several years ago, just get less hours. Frustrating, because everything that was promised when I was hired was a big LIE! I vested these years into this company thinking I can walk around with my high. Now, only the most experienced DSR'S can't do anything because of a wide range of new hires that have no clue about conway and its work practices. Getting a union in a Barns is almost impossible now.
My Opinion, the Union also needs to change, It needs to change its practices on casuals. To increase your chances of a union, 1) Union business agents need to get out and talk with non union company drivers on the road at stops. 2) Have a Online Card signing very Descrete!! 3) The NLRB need to close the time gap for a petition filed. Especially for companies that Violate labor laws! It's time to get it right!

I DONT KNOW HOW STOLASS & MGMT CAN BE LAUGHING WHEN A GREAT DEAL OF Y HHEY EIR CUSTOMER BASE HAS LEFT TO DO BUSINESS WITH OTHER CARRIERS. THEY ALSO SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY IN STOPPING THE UNION. SOME OF THAT WASTEFUL SPENDING HAS COME TO A HAULT TOO. THOSE LOW DOWN DIET BASTARDS HAVE TO BE CAREFUL NOW BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO SHOW SOME PROFIT TO THE SHAREHOLDERS. SO EVENTHO WE HAVEN'T MADE GREAT STRIDES FOR MORE TERMINALS TO BECOME UNION AT THIS TIME THEY HEARD US LOUD & CLEAR. WE WILL BECOME UNION IN THE FUTURE IF WE XAN SURVIVE DOUG STOLASS.

I'm a former conway employee. Myself and a few few other guys at my barn started the union drive. I got cards signed, I went to union meetings, spoke out against management, anti union coworkers and the union busters. I signed a notice of organizing a union and had it sent to my SCM. I fought the good fight for the union. But I was fired from conway on trumped up chargers. The union I supported filed a nrlb case with a shit load of evidence to support me in getting my job back but the nlrb sided with conway. The union I supported did have me work with them for a few months while waiting to see what happened with my nlrb case so I did have money coming in. The union did have my back I can say that. But I don't have any faith in the nlrb and I think the union handled the organizing of my former conway barn very poorly. I don't think the union has the man power or knowledge to go after LTL companies such as conway and FedEx. Needless to say I work for FedEx freight now but I don't think I'd do it again and try to get the union at my new FedEx barn. Not because I don't believe that the union isn't best for the working man and the company has my best interest at heart but because I don't believe the union knows how to get it done against these big powerful LTL companies and no backing from the nlrb I just can't be another casualty in the war union vs company. I have nothing but respect for the union and my fellow coworkers that stuck their necks out as I did in tying to get a union at Conway but speaking from the front line and have been through the war and seeing both sides of it till I see a better plan from the unions on going after these companies I'll be laying low at FedEx freight.
