FedEx Freight Workers In Charlotte Vote To Join Teamsters Local 71

Drivers In Charlotte Seek Job Security, Improved Health Plan, Pension
(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) – A group of 222 drivers at FedEx Freight’s Charlotte, N.C., terminal voted today to join Teamsters Local 71.
“This victory is about drivers wanting respect on the job, improved health care coverage and to be treated fairly,” said Roger Dale Jones, a 20-year road driver at FedEx Freight. “It feels great to have representation from the Teamsters.”
“Like the drivers in Philadelphia and in South Brunswick, N.J., who voted to join the Teamsters, the workers in Charlotte want to be treated fairly and they want to have consistent, fair work rules,” said Steve Bess, President of Teamsters Local 71 in Charlotte. “The company ramped up its vicious anti-worker, anti-union campaign here, but the drivers remained strong and focused. Rather than lying to the workers, the company should use the money to provide better benefits for the workers and their families.”
This victory follows two previous ones: On Oct. 31, a group of 113 drivers at FedEx Freight in South Brunswick, N.J., joined Teamsters Local 701 in North Brunswick, N.J., and on Oct. 14, a group of 47 drivers in Croydon, Pa., voted to join Teamsters Local 107 in Philadelphia. Other campaigns at FedEx Freight and at Con-way Freight are under way across the country.
“With these three victories, drivers are making it loud and clear to the company that they are fed up with FedEx Freight,” said Jim Hoffa, Teamsters General President. “Our campaign continues to roll and FedEx Freight drivers are showing they will fight for fairness, respect and dignity.”
The workers’ campaigns to join the Teamsters have already paid off. At FedEx Freight, the company announced an 80-cent-per-hour raise a few days after Local 107 filed for an
election, and the company got rid of its overly punitive driver scorecard, which gives drivers infraction points for errors. Also, after organizing got under way at Con-way, the company announced it would increase truck driver pay by $60 million in 2015, and other improvements.
“The companies are offering pay raises and other improvements at the same time we are organizing, but the workers know that these things can be taken away just as quickly without a legally binding contract,” said Tyson Johnson, Director of the Teamsters National Freight Division. “The unfulfilled promises that have been made to drivers and dockworkers over the past decade are coming back to haunt management.”
Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.4 million hardworking men and women throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Visit www.teamster.org for more information. Follow us on Twitter @Teamsters and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/teamsters.

Last night we had our town hall with Lemmy. It was positive and joyous. He showed us all the great things they have done for us, and also what is coming in January. One problem though! He didn't tell us why they decided to do all these great things. Did they have a heart felt moment up in Ann arbor and decide that we were important? Hell no they didn't! LAREDO, TEXAS IS THE WHY!!! Not until the threat of organizing the Union at Conway did they decide to change things. Do you seriously believe that SCM at Miami would have been fired for her extreme abuse towards workers if the drivers had not petitioned for a vote? Lemmy did a good job making us feel good about Conway, but ask yourself why is he here? What is his goal?

Stay Strong brothers and sisters Vote YES!!

Let's get a legally binding contract to secure these gifts of Lemmy for the future!

Waiting for big terminal at Conway to step up. Chicagoland will show Numbskull, Stallon, and Tommy Boy who gets respect. Midwest on fire. More town hall meetings to tell us how Conway makes millions but don't like to share with employees unless union petitions start flying. Conway and FedEx are going knowhere so don't be fooled by union busters to much at stake for these two. Nows time to reclaim the American dream for our families. Terminal managers, human resource really been saving face all of a sudden like we really want to talk to them. New safety rule is role back box get 2 strikes. ConWay is so safety conscious but allows these horrendous rules. VOTE YES

Here in Laredo after 3 days in court everything looks good. We are putting our faces for our brothers and sisters of Conway, and the company sent people from other terminals to turn the people against each other. People from California like Juan Perez, Oscar Paz, Carlos Munoz, Jose Garcia, Jessie Garcia from ULX Oscar Santos, and Jacob Acosta from LSX Francisco Razo, from USL David Bocanegra from LTX, Alejandro Leon, Joe Cuellar, Osvaldo Macias from LPE. While here they were steeling company time organizing their own meetings, and we are waiting for 5 more drivers from for the ULX for the first week of December when we restart the negotiations again. You'll know their names later on.

Xau is still alive we are doing it right Makeing sure we will have a yes here no more conway wins all yes from here on out brothers

As far as I know xau has not pettioned to vote yet. Only vote that's coming is Miami Dec 11th.

Don't be so quick to give up. Bringing the Union in will be a long process. Stay the course with the cause to be united.

We signed our cards over a month ago with our local and haven't pettioned yet. We know its coming, and we know how we are gonna vote. Good things take time. Be patient.

The amount of posts on here has tapered off. I'm guessing because a lot of people like myself have come to terms that this process is nite gonna be fast.

If you want a fast fix at Conway, let Lemmywinks and Stallin take you to Pizza Hut. Maybe they will even splurge for extra cheese.

If you want a permanent fix to Conway, lace up your work boots cause its gonna be an uphill struggle that will take time.

Tell you one thing for sure, we give up this cause you better enjoy your pizza cause when you retire from Conway at 80 years old you won't be able to afford pizza living off your unmatched 401k.

Hello my Conway Coworkers,Ive been around.Been reading whats goin on with Conway,Fedex(By the way CONGRATS ON THE WIN),and with Others who are fighting for Respect and Dignity.Like the Facebook Bus Drivers,Walmart,Waste Workers and Others.Im also trying to get my friends and family to support the workers at the retail stores.BY not shopping on the Holidays.I believe that everyone Should Spend the Holidays with their families and friends and not spend it making profits for the Greedy Corporations just so they can have a bigger bank account.SO just the way we want to be treated with Dignity and Respect. We should show support to all thoes hardworking people and get our Shopping done before the Holidays and not wait till the Last minute.I for one wouldnt like having my Wife,Mother,Sister,Daughter or family member Working on a Special Day where Great memories Could be Made.I Believe in Unity for all of Us who make this Country and its Ecconomy. Is it what where fighting for?A fair Share,Dignity and Respect? But thats just my Opion. So I say lets keep Up our battle for Unity and having the Union at Conway.Lets have Representation and A Legal Contract.Lets get Together and VOTE YES.

Walmart, Kmart, Macy’s, Target, RadioShack and many other major retailers are proclaiming that they will be open on Thanksgiving Day to make shoppers happy. But Costco, Marshalls, GameStop and T. J. Maxx are riding the backlash against holiday commerce by boasting that they will not relent: They will remain closed that day to show that they are family-friendly and honoring the holiday.
But even as retailers vie for every dollar during a very competitive season, Tony Bartel, the president of GameStop, views this debate as open-and-shut. “For us, it’s a matter of principle,” said Mr. Bartel, whose company has 4,600 stores nationwide. “We have a phrase around here that we use a lot — it’s called ‘protecting the family.’ We want our associates to enjoy their complete holidays.”

(SOUTH EASTON, Mass.) – Custodians, craftsmen and truck drivers who work for Brockton Public Schools in Brockton, Mass., have voted by an overwhelming 5-1 margin in favor of representation by Teamsters Local 653 in South Easton, Mass.

The drivers, who are employed by contractor Loop Transportation, voted yesterday to join America’s strongest union. It is an important first step not only for these 87 workers who transport employees of the social networking giant to and from their jobs, but for workers like them toiling behind the scenes in the tech industry.

(NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev.) –– Over 150 city workers gathered Thursday morning in front of City Hall to join Mayor John Lee in a show of support for Teamsters Local 14, recognizing the hard work and leadership the union played in averting the City of North Las Vegas from state takeover.

“The deal negotiated by the Teamsters has saved this city from going into receivership,” said Kim Spurlock, a worker for the City of North Las Vegas and a member of Teamsters Local 14 in Las Vegas. “Local 14 successfully turned the tide, bringing stability to our city and protecting workers from layoffs and pay cuts.
BUT CONWAY HIRED A BUNCH OF LIERS TO TELL US THAT HAVING A UNION IS A BAD THING..BUT TO ME SURE LOOKS LIKE HAVING A UNION REPRESNT THE WORKING PEOPLE MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE.BUT I GUESS HAMPSHIRE BELIEVED ALL THE BULL SHIT THAT CONWAY IS DISHING OUT.ITS TO BAD THEY DIDNT VOTE TO SUPPORT THERE COWORKERS AT TEXAS AND LA.I JUST HOPE OTHERS ARENT SO GULLIBLE TO CONWAYS BULL SHIT.HAVING A CONTRACT TO WORK BY AT CONWAY IS NOT A BAD THING.

Amen the only way we're going to have any power is having a union ask yourself this you anti Union guys first why is con your way doing this giving us more money adding more bids taking away the rule that says your terminate if u drop a trailer it's because they want to trick u because they know how brain dead you company guys are and believe me they hate u guys that vote no as much as they hate the guys that vote yes to union.management looks at u guys as just being stupid and believe me they hate stupidaty more. The union is coming and con your way will do anything and offer anything till the storm passes an then there going to take back everything they gave. Remember with a union they sign contract without a contract they can take everything back. They can lie and say we're broke you don't have a union to say to the company ok your broke open your wallet show us how and why your broke, with the union there, they have to justify why they are taking things back and our ceo would not be making the money he's making,if we had a union.

To all you truck drivers if the union is broken especially teamster in America we will all be making 10 dollars an hour. Conway drivers and Fedx drivers if you guys go union truly then the middle class in this country will start to make a come back. Because then that would inspire Walmart worker McDonald workers and every worker in America to get a piece of the pie they and there family deserve. The only way to fight the greedy billionaire in this country is thru solidarity. If we the people are together thru the power of unity then there billionaires can't divid and conquer us. Please bring the power of union back you the people that work for a living can do it. If u look at how things are in this country for the working man now, what do we have to loose? Try it you might like it. I know one thing it will wake up Wall Street.

Hello,My Conway Coworkers. So i noticed some would like see this in the Midia spot light. The reason i see were not in the Media spot light is because of the Employees for Conway and Fedex aren't outside the companies with signs making noise.Thats because some are affraid of retaliation from the company.Wich is understandable because theirs no unity in some places. Some are just a bunch of kiss asses who will backstab the guy next to him just so he looks good in front of the boss. But in my opion if we had each others backs walked outside(on our own time,Im not saying walk of the job) with sings about how were treated at Conway and Fedex and all we want is Union represantion.I bet the media would be all over it.IF We as a whole group of united workers showed the media that there's a problem with this companies we be all over the news. But if the media doesnt know of any problems no reason to show anything.Dont know if anyone remembers but around 2009Conway made a video of how It was the best place to work at.What a bunch of crap that was.Any ways if we want to be shown on the news we must all unite first and show the media and companies we want A Union Contract.UNITY BRINGS POWER,DIGNITY AND RESPECT.WE MUST ALL WORK TOGETHER.

SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME???????????????WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS COUNTRY COMING TO??????????

Wal-Mart Asks Workers To Donate Food To Its Needy Employees.
The group Making Change At Wal-Mart posted a photo of the food drive to its Facebook page on Thursday and commented, "Rather than agree to pay a decent wage or provide full-time hours, Walmart and its owners (the Waltons) continue to earn massive profits while too many of the workers who make the company a success go hungry."
The photo shows a cardboard bin with a sign attached that reads: "Let's succeed by donating to employees in need!!! Thanks for your support!"

The average hourly wage for Wal-Mart's full and part-time employees is $11.83, according to the company.
OUR Wal-Mart, a group that's fighting for higher wages at Wal-Mart, claims that most workers make under $9, based on data from IBISWorld and Glassdoor.com. The minimum wage in the U.S. is $7.25 an hour..........
Doug McMillon, CEO, Walmart: $257.4 billion....
HE CANT SPARE ANY OF IT TO GIVE WORKERS A BETTER LIVING THO.

THAT WILL BE US AT CONWAY AND FEDEX IF WE DONT STAND UNITED AND FIGHT FOR FAIRNESS FOR ALL TO HAVE A GOOD LIVING.....
