Kicking Drivers off the Dock

Conway will now begin to force all CDL-qualified dock employees to have driving bids. The point of that is to then hire on temp workers to do all the dock work at dirt-cheap wages. They already use temps to do dock work and at some terminals even have temps be the "lead" man on the dock. This is laughable! When will it end at Conway??? The only way is to unite and get a contract. At union companies, this doesn't happen. Drivers are allowed to have dock bids. Temps at a union barn??? No way! Nothing good can come of the direction Conway wants to go with the dock operations. Claims will probably sky-rocket and safety will take a hit. Union shops are proven to be safer work environments since the turnover is slow. Employees are allowed to become experts at their crafts. Conway will keep cutting everywhere they can. We have to make a stand and organize!

It's kind of a good thing, don't you think? For years, drivers have been complaining about working the dock..now, you've got a problem with them not doing it? We haven't had dock bids for a while now. I don't see a problem. I know you won't post this comment..well, you are a coward, you know...LOL, you could never have a real debate. The union is dead. You post propaganda at best. Quit being a coward. Be a man. haha Besides nobody is reading this shit anymore. only a few people in Calf.

If you are in Rhode Island that means we're not alone in organizing in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona and Cali. Drivers in this company are fed up with all the stupid company policies, being treated like kids and the lean program...what a waste of money. That bullshit will not work in a trucking company

First off, the second comment here is stupid. You sound proud to have lost your dock bids. Bidding the dock should be a choice that is based on seniority. You have to protect what you have. Once you lose it, even with a union, it's hard to get it back. What are you going to say when they start to give out the city driving to people that will do it cheaper??? Don't think they haven't thought about it. As for me I have a CDL and have a dock bid at ABF. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, it's worlds better than having a temp doing dock work. There's a reason that ABF is the industry leader in low claims. We have experts at working the dock. As far as calling people 'cowards,' well it really takes a big set of balls to anonymously post that comment. If you want to be a real man why don't you identify yourself. Maybe the company will reward your brown-nosing.

People where I work are like deer, they see the truck coming and just stand there. Company b.s. has to stop. The company continues to change policy every year. This year the extended the dock workers to a 50 hour work week ,before overtime kicks in. O yeah and I can't compete with dock workers seniority. Which means,if work slows down the guy on the dock gets to work and I stay at home. Did I mention he just started a week ago. Great way to treat a employee who has worked for the company for 5+ years. Doug Stotler needs to be fired. They wonder why moral is in the toilet. they post all this shit about values on freight T.V. when they have none of their own. I am taking a trip down to the union hall this next week and I have a least 50 people to back me. We will see if that gets some attention. Conway employees are tired of this stupid shit.

Well I read all this postings and let me tell you guys something the cowards are those that don't want to sing the union cards their excuse is that they don't want to loose their jobs that bull shit they already lost some thing they lost their confidence their values .now all those drivers said that they are ok to work 40 hrs or less , and they kiss the management ass so they won't get a a bad route but they don't see that the company will fire them for any mistake and like that they won't get their pension especially cause they have lots of years working their pension wiil be taken away and one other thing if they retire from the company they will get the pension but it would not be enough. Life is spensive here in cali and that lil pension will not cover all the needs that they will need specially if you get sick.
