ConWay Freight Employees Receive Encouragement and Support from JC 10 and Local 633
 
NE Teamsters Joint Council 10 and Teamster Local 633 Principal Officer David W Laughton joined Joint Council 10 Organizer Roger Travers at the ConWay Freight terminal in Manchester NH. Business Agents Kevin Foley and Rick Laughton along with active and retired members of Teamsters Local 633 attended the rally in support of the hard working men and women employed by ConWay.  On November 13, 2014, the NLRB will administer a vote for the drivers and dock workers at the Manchester terminal. This will be their opportunity to have a voice in the terms and conditions of their employment with the unwavering support of the Teamsters Local 633 with regard to their representation as the exclusive bargaining representative.
 
The Officers, Agents and members are at the gates day and night supporting their future brothers and sisters.

Yes vote yes it's the only vote at Conway freight they only offer the penison to those prior to 2005 what about those of us after 2005 aren't we worth shit it's normal BS that Conway does one terminal has different pay than the other they don't want to fix anything here just keep the union out and it's back to business as usual don't fall for their BS after all we know who we work for UNION YES ALWAYS

  5. Your welcome. And thanks for your comments. Your absolutely correct i wanted to help anyone who is on the fence, afraid or is lacking in knowledge. I will be expanding the site as we march forward and i hope to make it a recourse everyone can use. Together we can and will do this. If anyone has questions post them and i will find the answers if it is possible. I'm going to link to this thread and tag it on my site so i can come look for your questions as they arise. LOL not bad for a days work, i registered that site at 3am this morning, fell asleep working on it and continued working on it around noon today.I am very happy it has had some little impact so far, and i hope it will have a much larger impact in the future.   6. All I got to say is the locals phones are blowin up. Talked to a local rep. Told I was his 13 call in three days. Being new I gave no names or ideas of influence from other co-workers. When asked what my reason for calling I told him about a co-worker that died on the dock. I being the one who tried to revive him asked higher up management if they could buy defibulators and have each service centers first responders trained. Told to expensive. Life=no value. Just a concerned employee.

    A few months ago an older lady that had worked for Conway for several years got fired. As you can imagine, she is struggling to make ends meet, so she goes to file unemployment. This little bit of support will keep her going while she goes and searches for a new job. In today’s economy it’s tough to find a decent job, but at her age, doubly hard. She is a baby boomer, a senior citizen, it could be your parent and grandparent that needed help. And what happens… HR goes and represents themselves at her unemployment hearing, and gets her denied! They come back from the hearing arrogant and bragging, saying they never lose a case. How do they do that, they give multiple write ups and form a paper trail; all under the disguise of re-training and re-coaching. They don’t intend to help you, you are just a number and will be one of their “cases they never lose”! All this documentation is there to use in court, to discredit your character, habits, decision making. Supervisors are being pushed to write people up for anything so they can have a paper trail to use against you. There is no faithfulness or loyalty to you, no heart for your situation. What happened to her isn’t right, and will keep happening, if we let it.Con-Way managemant is not suppose to retaliate.But ive seen the field service manager and supervisor do it more than once.They both have a chip on their shoulder that no one can touch them.

  16. Please understand drivers there are laws on the books that will have to be followed by con-way management. If they break these Federal laws they can be charged with breaking the law. These laws are not posted at the terminals because posting them is being fought in the courts in Washington. This doesn't mean the laws are not on the books it simply means employers ( for now ) don't have to post them. So if the law isn't being followed we as drivers have to document record them breaking the law and file a complaint with NLRB . These laws can be researched and found on the NLRB web-site. Please pass this around and be vigilant. If you can record or capture them with your phone with a video turn them in. It's in your best interest to catch them and make sure they follow the law. Go union, vote YES I believe the law is the no fear law.

I plane to always back up my posts with credible links so everyone has the TRUTH, and guys like Lupe cannot call me out. Unlike the liars Conway will force you to talk to in the captive meeting they will hold, I will bring the truth to the light. information is power and my plan is to EMPOWER ALL MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS WITH THE TRUTH. Go there read up the FAQ's, click the links educate yourselves. Post questions, ideas and concerns here, i will address them and answer asap and to the best of my ability. Seems like con-way has started to divide us.But weather we want to do this as a whole unit or in separate units the results should still be the same.WE all want a better future.We want to change con-way for our benefit not keep it the way it is now where they are the only ones to profit from our hard work.I would prefer everyone as a whole unit to stand up and fight.But their's to many doubters.Ither because they just been there to long to care or some who just dont get what a great benefit to have a legal contract would do.But pointing fingers at each other isn't helpful in any battle.We all need to think change,and that change will only come from us.By voting Yes to the union.pEOPLE Think About it what is the word UNION STAND FOR??Again just my opinion.I would love to see Con-Way CHANGE FOR THE WELL BEING OF ALL ITS WORKERS.

  22. I for one don't believe it would be best for everyone to pick a day and call for a blue flu, that would simply pick out the people that are in support of a union and put a target on you, if your from a smaller terminal that would not be a good thing.
    Don't get me wrong im support
    but im sure there would be retaliating measures,
    Ive been on the shit list many times. Trust me not a good place to be.

  25. Really boggles my mind thinking that we would have to convince someone to vote yes. I tried for years to get a union job and these guy have the chance to have it handed to them like UPS Freight. I had to work nonunion for 10 years before I got my first chance at a union job. I can't imagine having to go back. I would feel like less of a man, really. To get ahead in life sometimes you have to take a chance.

Comment about the out service.In the shop i work at the surpervisor sure likes using that threat.The service field manager get a kick out of having something over the workers.So if both dont like something.The threat of if you dont follow SWI or MEET the SRT times where goin to put you out of service,They even said will put the whole shop out service see how you guys like that.I WAS like really??That means i get some time off.and your quotas and report card will show that where out of service?Then the other threat came out if you have a problem with the way we do things Ill fix it for you in the OFFICE.But yeah managers have INTERGRITY AND DONT THREATEN THE WORKERS,RIGHT??

    -----A U.P.S parcel driver total scale $33 an hour for labor, plus they also get $9 an hour for the pension plan and last $7 an hour for health and welfare, so when they retired, they have medical retirement.
    Add all together, is $49 an hour…
    A FedEx courier driver total scale $24 an hour for labor, plus 31 cent an hour for the pension plan and last no medical retirement when they retired.
    Add all together, is $24.31 an hour… minus 3% .81 cent an hour for your contribution to 401k=$23.50---This rate was from a few years ago.We sure are smart to keep the union out.HUH?Way to go Laredo TX.you knew when your getting fucked.

    Thanks, Pat. Good morning. On the call today, I'm joined by members of our senior leadership team, including Con-way's CFO, Steve Bruffett; Con-way Freight President, Greg Lehmkuhl; Menlo Logistics President, Bob Bianco; and Con-way Truckload President, Joe Dagnese. Steve will provide some commentary on our financial picture, and Greg, Bob and Joe will participate in the Q&A portion of the call.

    All of our business units delivered improved results in the quarter led by the performance of Con-way Freight, which recorded a more than 50% increase in operating income compared to last year's second quarter. In conjunction with the release of our quarterly results yesterday, we also announced 2 initiatives designed to return meaningful capital to shareholders, along with an increased level of pension funding for 2014.

    Regarding the shareholder initiatives, our Board of Directors authorized a $150 million share repurchase program and a 50% increase in our common dividend. Given the progress we have made toward our financial objectives, we have reached the point where we can redeploy a portion of our cash balance to fund these shareholder initiatives while maintaining a strong balance sheet. Steve will provide more detail around these actions during his commentary later in today's call.

    Moving to the second quarter's financials. I'll provide an overview of our results. In the second quarter of 2014, Con-way reported consolidated revenues of $1.49 billion compared to $1.38 billion a year ago. On an operating income basis, we earned $102.7 million this quarter compared to $76.3 million last year. Diluted earnings per share were $0.93 compared to $0.75 in the prior year period.

    On a non-GAAP basis, earnings per diluted share in the 2014 second quarter were $0.91 compared to $0.68 in last year's second quarter. Non-GAAP items consisted of tax-related adjustments and gains on sale of property from both years, and an increase in reserves for international bad debt in the prior year.------------IF YOU NOTICED THATS ONLY THE 2Q.

    19 years ago I came to work at Conway. Called my dad to tell him the news. He , at the time was a 35 year Teamster, asked me the question “ Are they a union company ?” I paused and then said to my dad, “ No but, they are taking care of us “ Then I started to list off the benefits…

    I then told him I know that the only reason I have all this is because they don’t want the union in here.
    He then said, “ that’s good , but remember when they stop……. “ I knew what he meant . But did i? He must have know that it was only a matter of time before they(CONWAY CORP) would get greedy and start taking away like the company he was working for did to him years ago when I was just 8 yrs old.
    His company didn’t want to give them the benefits they knew they could afford . They fought back with the TEAMSTERS !!! They unfairly fired two leaders to get them to back off. My dad was one of the two. The TEAMSTERS backed them up for a year going back and forth to court…… guess what, they won!! The company had give them their jobs, seniority, and one year back pay ! The point of all this …..Conway is trying to keep the Teamsters out and they are doing anything to stop it !!! So watch out … stick together ,,, AND VOTE YES
