Laredo Manager Butcher's Spanish and Union Facts

Conway is claiming they will file charges against the Teamsters for vandalism and intimidating employees to vote the union in. The Teamsters didn't come looking for us, we went looking for them. The only intimidation done was on Conway's part, they're the ones that should be staring down those charges. They are also getting petty about the voting process, saying that ballots were put into a cardboard box that was too small. They said that the vote was 55-53 when it was 55-49. Just tactics they are using to try and send a message to the rest of the terminals. They've been spreading the same old tired lie about Conway eastern (PYX penn yan express) being closed down because of the union. That is illegal, so that's not the reason that it closed. In fact, they like to say that the Teamsters are the reason for the closure of hundreds of carriers since the 80's. When in fact, it has been proven that deregulation of the trucking industry was the driving force behind that. Of course, the union busters won't say that. Conway should also be held accountable for trying to bribe the workers in Laredo by offering them a raise if they had voted the union down. They said they had found $40 million lying around and were going to give them a raise. Now, they are claiming they have $60 million available. These are obviously lies as that money has always been there. Even if they did hand out raises, without a contract they would just steal it back when they feel like it, just like our vacations.

  2. This Turkey doesn't even know what he's talking about. It makes me upset to see this, just a bunch of nonsense. We have negative pto because the company took away are vacation time just like that. We as employees had no say in this. They took 5 weeks from me at that time. Conway gave me 3 days back to start off with, what kind of shit is that. Its hard to catch up unless I save the whole year worth of time to be positive again. Be strong vote yes ULA, UFV, ULX. LET'S HAVE A SAY THIS TIME!

  4. we were told today that we would also be getting a pay raise in Jan. for the ones that have been there a few years about a dollar an hour, People now will make top scale in three years rather than 5 Along with the trucks being turned up to 65 mph.

  5. What does it say about a company's integrity when the only way to get them to open their wallets is to threaten them with organization. Lemmy's video was quite hilarious for me. Is that guy a robot? I swear to god he did not blink or move through the whole thing. Maybe he still got some shit in his pants and don't want it running down his leg. Too little too late.   9. Yes, what a joke. This raise does not even cover the increase in health insurance. Plus, I am not counting on it. The only reason why they did not put it into effect is because they wanted to buy time to see how the union talk is going to play out. They STILL did not address the core issues.

  14. 15 year in conway am not for the union but seems conway keeps lieing and lieing i told our manager is the rasie becouse the union he said no what bullshit just say the truth for once he said it was in the 3 year plan they had well we are grown men here we know whats going on if they could they would fire every one they could onece this company was good but greead got to them and part off the problem was management and what happend there still there if the dsrs and dock works looked for help going to the union i cant blem them there voice was never heard i told them human resours about the problems and went in one ear and out the othere so shame on them and laredo boys keep strong and hold your ground i know you did the right thing

He also has his ass kissing DSR's That don't do shit but get more hours then the one busting our ass. The Biggest ass kisser was the Guy Talking shit about the union standing in the stairs. His name is Hector Diaz. Yeah his happy without union because he does Shit all day. but still manage to get His 10-12 hours a day. Same goes for Humberto Ramirez, Brian NiƱo, Toribio Cantu, And the biggest of them all Toribio Figueroa. This Last Two don't do NOTHING. But somehow manage to get at least 10 hours a day. So I'm with the union now and always. And screwed it. I go picketing. anyway if the union don't come in. Them I will go work somewhere else.

  20. Wow he doesn't know if the union has dock workers well HELLO they voted too! Yes you dumb dumb ! Drivers and dock workers are the overdrive of the company and yet we get paid less then a CSR now that is a boat load of shit! they don't work in shity conditions like we do yes the drivers have it worse but the dock workers deal with it too and the safety policy wow that sure doesn't affect the office oh and add that now we are adding motor moves per hour on top of being safe because safety is out number 1 core value! I'm as a dock worker am fed up with it! We all need to do something stand strong stand together because when it comes to it we are all a number ! The lies the misleading the hypocrisy ! It's coming to a end they spend how much on company cars insurance and free gas a month let's do the math 1 lease let's say 200 a month at 12 months 2400. OK add insurance let's be nice 30 bucks a month at 12 months that's 360. Plus gas at the prices they are right now let's just say 3000 a year for one car how many does our company have? Yes a load of them I understand a few but damn near 400 of them ? Really I'm sure we have more but like I said I'm being nice now let's talk bonus lmfao does any one know how much our CEO makes a year after his bonus ???? Let's just say the dam guy made it to FORBES ! So he is close to 4 million a year ! That's just him! Really when his contract with Conway If I'm not crazy is about 700.000 yes 7 hundred thousand. Look into it people I have. Like they say get educated !

NO...just put you questions in the box..he must have said that a dozen times...So he can take your questions that he cant answer back to the lawyer or cruz and get your answer...Ask the question Why Don't You Want A Union.. Guess what you wont get the truth.. The truth is because the company is worried about their pocket book not yours...but you wont hear that...

  23. If Conway promises us a raise in Jan.2015, do you trust them to follow thru with it??? They are not giving you anything that they didn't take from you two years ago. Questions???? Here is how it played out. Remember your health care deductables went up to 4000 per person. There you have it. They just put us in a higher deduct able two years ago to save them on the benefits expenses say to the tune of 2$ per employee per hour and pocketed the savings. Then blamed it on OBama care.lol There are two wages a company gives you hourly and benefit wages. They robbed from our benefit wages and now tell us the hourly wages will increase in Jan. The national average for health care deductables is 1500 per year. What is your deductibles? Does your pay raise even cover it? You be the judge. Just know what Conway has done before you decide.

  26. It seems to me that maintenance as been left out of the equation. We don't get a raise, we don't get overtime, we pay for our own tools with a tool allowance that covers a wrench a quarter. we are expected to turn equipment in the matter of hours no matter what the job is. We have timed jobs that are not enforced you get scolded for working to fast on timed jobs as well as to slow. We have to work at the Conway pace. There is no benefit for having the knowledge to properly fix equipment. Nor, is there repercussions for equipment failure after it leaves the shop. Operations is taking over maintenance positions when it takes a maintenance back round in order answer questions that technicians have. We are the redheaded step child that is always forgotten about.

    Con-way makes no secret of its anti-union position. It expressed disappointment with the vote in Laredo, and today issued a statement on the upcoming votes in California that said, "We continue to believe that our employees do not need union representation and that we can best meet their needs and the needs of our customers through a direct working relationship with our employees, without the interference of a union."

  29. Great plan. Drivers unhappy, which is the largest employee group, so drivers sign cards and petition for a union vote. They have looked at pay for 8 years for all employee groups...but only give a january raise to drivers...now all the dockworkers, mechanics, csr, wi,supervisors, etc have been alienated. Kinda new here, do u usually get 2 raises announced within a cpl months? I hear them talk about Team, but why a raise for jus one group o the team?

    Who is all included in the vote
    I understand it is drivers and dock workers.
    I have hear rumor it also includes csr's and fos's is there any truth to that.
    Also a lot of people are saying there would be a large initiation fee, and dues on a monthly basis are high if the union is voted in,
    Can anyone clarify any of this for me, just for the record

    1. Only dock workers, drivers and IP are allowed to vote. Dues generally run 57.00 per month and no initiation fees. No fees until the contract is negotiated upon.

  33. only full time hourly will be voting. monthly union dues are two and a half times your hourly pay, for instance if your pay is at $20 an hour your monthly dues are $50.00. a very small price to pay they have your voice heard without fear of losing your job

  38. Union's gonna wave initiation fee your monthly dues are based on your hourly pay rate two and a half time's your hourly pay rate. If you're a hourly employee and get paid by con way you vote driver, dock, office, shop, if you're a salary employee like a fos you don't vote.
