LAREDO, TX Voting for UNION Representation


Good news for our movement! Next month the Laredo, TX terminal will have an election to gain union representation! It's taken a long time to get to this point but we are here. This is the time when we have to be the strongest. Conway will come out in full force to try and sway our votes. They will sweet talk us, say they will give us the world, heck, and they might even offer us money to vote the union down. These are all false promises. If we fall for their lies and don't vote the union in, we can expect them to clean house and most of us will be out of work. We are not alone in this fight; a FedEx Freight terminal in New Jersey is also going to be voting soon. They're in the same boat as we are. This is the start of something big at both companies! Time to start taking back what is ours!

Step 12 voteing startes we have 2 days to vote we are 80 percent strong we will win brothers that's a fact there's no turning back this chance won't be there for long its history in the makeing let's do it and many other es will follow don't be scared we did it you have the right to chose to be union

    1. I'm a con-way freight dsr in Little Rock, Arkansas. I know we can have a strong union in central arkansas. The drivers have been talking alot. Let's stay together on this.

  2. Union underground has been alive and strong in the midwest with meetings being held bimonthly. Attendance has grown substanually in the last year, the time is right.

  7. Hermanos, esto es un comunicado en español. Dicen los abogados que solamente firmaron la petición por no sabían lo que firmaban la rason dice que no sabe leer en ingles. Hacemos la lucha a Diario por nuestro hogares y familia. Trabajamos para pagar nuestra siguieran. Hacia como los aumentan el sueldo por 2% los quita en otra parte. Prefiero trabajar en un camino sin ajaré que sufrí mal ratos. Dicen que las cuotas están bajas pero quien en el sur de tejas sabe muy bien que todo pasa por aquí para el norte. Somos la distribución de tejas y con tacos no los van a cambiar la mente. Si llegas a trabajar por necesita solamente trabajas pero si trabajas con ganas es orgullo. Del la casa a trabajo y del trabajo a la casa para o otro para que para que te traten mal y te humane y te quien tener con miedo no! Ya!No! Hermanos no ay que aguantar nada. Cuantos no se han salido para lo norias o otro empleos? La respuesta es varios. Pero a mi me justa ser trailer y me gusta mis entregas y amistades que a tenido durante anos. Pero nada merece mal tratos y mal pajo. Miramos la mercancías sabes que la libras se mueven y de es producto la compañía gana $. No los dice gracias,y buen trabajó. No solamente maltratos por que naden quiere mover la agua por miedo a que si lo único que le debemos temer es a la muerte. El seguro que los cobre nada. Nuestra familia la usa y sale bien caro. Nosotros cuando vamos al doctor si para es no podemos si un día sale caro.
    Brother, this is a statement in Spanish. Lawyers say that the only reason you signed the petition is because you did not know what you were signing because it was in english. We struggle to support our homes and family. Continue our work for pay is okay but to work because you like to is being proud of your employment. The salary increase as 2% is given but removed elsewhere. I prefer to work in a trailer without air then suffered bad times at work . They say the odds are low but we in south texas know that everything passes by Laredo to the north. We are distributing center. Some tacos are not going to change our minds. If you work for the need to work but if you work with want, is pride. From the house to work and from work to home for what to treat you badly, and unappreciated you. Have no fear! No more! Brothers we do no have to endure anything. How many people have left to the oil riges or other jobs? The answer is several. But I like my trailer, deliveries and friendships that I had for years. But no one deserves bad treatment and bad pay. We look at the goods. we know that the pounds are moving products and the company earns $. Do not say thanks, and good work. Nobody wants to move the water for fear. The only thing you should fear is death itself. The insurance that we have does’t cover anything. Our family use it and it is very expensive. When do we go to the doctor if we can not if one day is us it is costly.

  10. The next step after winning the election is to negotiate a union contract. Teamster’s representatives will ask employees what are our issues wages, working conditions, and benefits.
    Our demand will be represented to the company by the teamsters lead negotiator some employees will seat at the table during negotiations.
    the national labor relation board (nlrb)will tell conway to negotiate with us.

  12. Stand tall brothers and be strong. A lot can be accomplished if we stand as a unit! United we stand, divided we fall. We all work hard but don't get the recognition and respect we deserve.   13. NMF Miami is ready for a change. Let's put an end to this slavery. The drivers have no voice, if we say something that management does not like we get reprimended, punished and on the crap list. The company has no respect for senior drivers, we are forced to work the dock after our regular shift. Makes regular drivers work 14 hrs a day while they send the "on call" drivers home early. Lets not forget the pay increase (a whopping 0.47/hr) what an insult and what about the cameras in the trucks to intimidate us. Lean does not work but it keeps the painters busy, the bogus meetings at 7am to get the drivers to start work early. we must do something to stop this and if Union is the way to go then I say go!

Well lets just say that drivers HATE coming to what some call a cultured "LEAN" environment when in all actuality what everyone goes to is a dictatorship ran by none other than service center manager Nicole Wood. This woman treats us with no respect as human beings. Treats her own NMF PS Rick Failla like dirt and he puts up with it, he does exactly what she tells him and is no voice for the drivers. He has no dignity as a man and the employees feel that they can't go to him for any problems because he himself has no say. It doesn't matter how many people complain or have an issue he DOES NOT HELP! Drivers are also FED up with FOS Juan Diaz which has no people skills whatsoever. He does not know how to speak to an individual, he yells and belittles the drivers as if they were animals and not grown men. They preach the whole "lean culture" RESPECT EVERY INDIVIDUAL yeah right, what respect? When Nicole Wood has people in dispatch that talk to drivers like crap too and she allows it to happen. They work us to death and without a care in the world that most of us have a family and lives outside of Conway. All they care about is their numbers when in actual fact we haven't met our numbers the WHOLE DAMN YEAR and we NEVER will. So much unfairness happens at this terminal that its time for OUR VOICES TO BE HEARD and if that means for Miami to go union well so be it. We welcome the union with open arms. We Must Stand Together Today for a Better Tomorrow. LET'S GO CONWAY.

  14. Nothing wrong done in this lifetime will go unpaid. The includes Conway Freight and many other companies south of the Masion Dixon Line. If you look at the slave states during the civil war? You will see for yourselves it is almost identical to Conway's southern region. The comment made by San Antonio upper management speaks volumes. About how they view the hourly employee. For all employees especially you senior drivers. Think about all you have lost though out the years. Your pension is frozen it will not grow from what it is now. It is the same that it was when it was frozen about 5yrs ago. No cost health insurance gone! No health care coverage after retirement! No overtime after 40hrs or 8hrs (ridiculous)! Low mileage pay 10 to 20% lower than market rate! No overtime compensation for linehaul drivers! Hours and runs lost to subservice!
    Think hard about all these things you have lost through the years and should have ALWAYS had! My support and encouragement will always be with my brothers! I'm filled with great joy that this seed I planted in Austin Tx (LTX). Has spouted and growing! My prayers are with you all!

  16. Fellow coworkers it is the time, stick together in all states. California is about to deliver a blow to conway pretty soon. We will let these guys know that Laredo is not alone, and much more on the way.

When the raises were just given out,we now know why the larger barns where rewarded larger increases was keep those employees from rallying for a union, they couldn't go around those large facilities. So it was for their own reasons why. Not based on some regional study... It's time for all of us to stay strong and weigh out are options.

You forgot 410k matching, a year of vacation, retirement health benefits, respect...... the list will continue to grow as long as we are seen as a # here. For thise that have been here for more than 5 years, is the future outlook still as it was when you began? Do you have faith in the leadership of this company? Do you have a voice in the fight for your future livelihood now? This company is ran strictly by numbers, with most of it's leaders clueless to this industry before coming here, and it shows. Con-Way will continue to strip all employees of anything they feel they can get away with, and at the same time preach how valuable you are due to a national shortage of drivers! Does that make sense to anyone outside of the G.O.? We have just received the green light to start organizing. We are already over 60% signed. Big thanks to our regional and his pep talk on how we would never be put up to our market's competitive wage, and the continued cuts to our line haul to be put on contract carrier's. They do not have a plan for a single terminal but rather a blanket plan for the company. If you think the cut's and reductions won't happen at your terminal, your only fooling yourself, and Con-Way appreciates you for being that way. That means the years of brain washing is working. I never wanted the Union before, but see NO other options at this point. At least13 terminals looking right now in the mid to lower central and eastern!
