Laredo, TX is more than just another terminal for Conway. It's one of the busiest and most profitable in the system. They move up to 1,200 shipments per day and generate 6% of profit for the company. So how can a company that makes so much money and has their employees produce at record rates not be sharing the wealth with the people that make it happen? Every year, we are producing more and getting less compensation. They may make it appear that we get raises, but whatever they do give us, they take away from somewhere else. In the last quarter Conway made over $40 million in profits. Yet, they can't provide cheaper medical benefits for us, they can't provide a pension, they can't even provide full-time jobs anymore. We get treated as if we were working in a third-world country. Laredo is the front line of the union movement at Conway! This past friday they sent a petition to the NLRB to gain union recognition. That same day the drivers out of Laredo that ran to San Antonio FAC were segregated from the other drivers. They are trying to contain the movement, they don't want Laredo drivers to inform employees from other terminals. It's okay, they will get informed and once business is taken care of at Laredo, the other terminals will be clamoring to have a union just like Laredo!
UNION BUSTERS ARE IN LAREDO TX BUT NOTING IS GOING TO CHANGE OUR MINDS WE WANT THE UNION AND THATS THAT WE HAVE OUR OWN MEETINGS TO AND WE STAND OUR GROUND AND BRING MORE TACOS AND APPLES ICE CREAM ITS WONT WORK
ReplyDeleteThis is spreading like wild fire baby we in new jersey
DeleteGuy go to changefedextowin, check out whats cooking in cinnamison new jersey, you are not alone on this fedex freight is racing you!!!!! Who will win first?
Deletestand strong they cannot fire everyone at Conway I worked for Conway and now I'm at ABF they are definitely taking advantage of the Conway workers they give you guys hamburgers three times a year but I pay nothing for health insurance
ReplyDeleteReally
DeleteCon-way freight should have appreciated their employees. Pro-Union is spreading like wild fire. Everyone is motivated and on the move. Attorneys, are a waste of money. These attorney eat, sleep, party, and travel on your dime Con-way. If you would have spent that money on high wages and lower premiums on health care coverage you would've only benefited. Ridiculous moves too late. How can you scare employees that have gone through struggles? Not easily I tell you. Everyone has gone threw some sort of hardship and have risen above but Pro-Union Employees are not backing down. The seed has been planted now to watch it grow. The only thing anyone has to fear is death, so seriously union is coming and there is nothing that can change that. Con-Way shareholders should be advised to see the trembling management. Note to Shareholders: Pull of an liquidate your investments. Resist the scare tactics and keep strong. Our reason are simple fair treatment, pay and lower health care premiums.
ReplyDeleteWe in new jersey this is spreading as we speak your right they treat us like crap in a couple of days this will be spread all threw the east coast in dayzz
DeleteRight on the money for comment above, it seems to me that conway talks with fedex freight behind the curtains cause same things happen at fedex freight!!
DeleteWhat about other term. And how about the mainf dept ? We are also interested in this.
DeleteWe support you in Memphis
DeleteWe here in the northeast need a stronger movement, people talk about it but you know things get squashed quickly, ill follow this and who knows maybe we can get on board but know that we're behind it up here!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat else can they scare us with to change our mind? Loi? Walk us out? Treat us like animals? Blame us for their mistakes? Harass us? Laugh at us? He'll they do that every day, so there is absolutely nothing to loose. They want to close down? Go for it! We are no longer scared. We can also have our own meetings to decide what is best and fair at our workplace. And we are coming on board in california!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteVery well said we are waiting in cali

Dont let a (good job!!!) (Atta boy) (excellent job today sir) cookouts, driver appreciation breakfast, company picnics, dont let all that take Your success of grossing out every year at 75k! !!! Your family needs that!!!!

DeleteThat's what eating tacos and donuts will do to you. Of course driving a company car, getting a big bonus at the end of the year, and treating your employees like garbage will put you against a union. Well me too, I've been with the company for twenty eight years and I've had enough of the disrespect and mistreatment of the employees
ReplyDeletePumpkinsocks u are exactly right waste of money they don't need company cars
DeleteWhere listening here in the South East and ready let's do this.

ReplyDeleteback in the 90's we tried to get the union in and they used union busters scare everyone .we had a good retirement pension it was supposed to pay around $3,300.00 a month , we had profit sharing , good medical insurance . now they voted the union out and now we don't have a pension , no profit sharing , our medical insurance sucks , they treat us bad , so they wonder why you guys are doing what your doing . good luck guys . once you cross that line you can't go back . stand strong . don't give up .

ReplyDeleteI remember the union Drive!
ReplyDeleteWhat Ramon is saying, beware of the lying anti-union
Lawyers;
Company will become very passionate with its employees, offering raises, BBQ's and false accommodation.
I suggest take everything they offer, eat every single food giving to you, after all you need to be nourish when you make that decision and vote yes for unionism!
Then beware! Conway will turn like the Devil, they'll start throwing everything at you, bringing scums like Richard Brown union busting attorney or Jackson and Lewis firm.
They do one on one captive meeting and intimidate you, they'll bring false propaganda, the fake video showing victim of violence, look at them closely and see how fake the bleeding victim are, just like a b movie!
Like I said, beware of the child like baby, THE DEVIL that doesn't get it his way (Conway Corp)
Tighten up that circle of bodies, the guards, and protect the heart in the center of it, the core of the true believers.
And always keep your guards up!
Good luck my future Brothers and Sisters!
We're ready in nro , I'm tired of being lied too and belittled, and throwing it in our face that we weren't getting but 2%. This is crap, I've never been treated like this in any LTL facility. Let's do this!!
ReplyDeletefell free to email me brothers at Future_brothers@yahoo.com all tell u what you need to know am in laredo tx
ReplyDeleteIm in miami vote yes that way all of us will getit too
ReplyDeleteConway Corp. should not see this as a surprise because management has done everything it possibly can to bring the union in. Management has this dictator philosophy that it's their way or as been said numerous times to everyone " there is the door if you don't like it" No pension , medical benefits ; in which as soon as possible Conway will get rid of when they figure out how to back door the system. Everyone already knows about the pay structure. How does cost of living difference justify the overtime ( one group gets it after 8 hrs the other after 50 hrs ) I guess to Conway that's fair. As an employee you have no voice . They care as much about you as they do the customer . Their only concern is coprarate shareholders pockets. Good luck Conway on trying to put out the fire that you started.
ReplyDeleteSorry guys its future_brothers@yahoo.com feel free email me

ReplyDeleteNRM is ready..
ReplyDelete?
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame it came to this u here on videos thanks to all of our employees we had a successful quarter time and time again but we aren't recognize as equals. No time and half over 40hrs for the folks in the south that work just as hard as the rest of us.Different pay scales as well. Con-way has to see this is a problem. This last raise was a joke, they'd been better off not even giving one. Maybe its time to bring in union representation or have a meetings with drivers on these issues . If the executives can't see what there doing to our company where in trouble. It's time to recognize your employees take off the blinders. We work hard each and every day to support our family's, treat us well and with respect, we share the fruits of our labor for your wealth as well remember how u got there.
ReplyDeleteI have been employed with the company for over 25 years. I have seen lots of changes and would have never felt we needed this until the management we have now. They have taken so much from us. We need organization and repersentaiin. Ask yourself this people.....do u want to work til you pass??? I dont....I would like to enjoy time with my family and grand kids before....With the pension plan for the older people.... (which they took 2 thirds of) you can't make it on that....Let's get it back....plus job security...lower health care cost. ...better coverage......remember in 2009 when took 5 percent as well as other benefits which most never came back....quote...we want to operate like ups with lots of on hand cash... well look at it now....they have so much on hand cash they don't know where to spend it.....Time to share the wealth....we all need to bond together and make this happen company wide and time is now....from all facilities. ...At once. . Newer hires need to remember you have the most to gain from this as you have many years...
ReplyDeleteAs a FedEx freight driver things are moving very fast in the pa nj areas as well as Virginia n the Carolinas n were glad to c u on the same page over one thousand have signed cards with mixed feelings but like you they forced our hands
DeleteOk
DeleteI hope you get union representation so you can get good insurance and a good pension
ReplyDeleteThe news of this has gotten to NTP (Tampa). We here in the South feel abused as well. Make less than our counterparts per hour and over time after 50 hours.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is right we pay alot each week for terrible medical insurance. No pension. This is Con-Way's fault, all take and no significant gains to their most important asset, us their employees that make it all happen. Take the bull by the horns Loredo.
How to get started in organizing for better wages, benefits, treatment etc, etc, First let all know there is a strong movement starting with Laredo, tx .They vote September 12 th, and they will win the right to be represented by the teamsters because the representative we currently have is not working out, First talk to a few buddies and see were they stand on the issue of being represented by the teamsters, hopefully 6 to 8 but the more the better , next ya'll start taking a poll , don't be discouraged when you get a hell no, that will happen just move on , write the yes names down with there information, figure out how many drivers you have , don't worry about dock workers or CSR's unless they come to you they can be added later, now 65 percent is a very good number but get all you can on board, next contact your local teamsters , don't worry if they don't answer right away leave a message they will get back to you, I found out they don't sit by the phone waiting on conway drivers to call, maybe a hot line for conway drivers will help, next set up a meeting for everyone that put there name down with the teamsters local but double check with the hell no's and the I don't know drivers its important never forget or leave anyone out feelings do get hurt, have drivers write down all questions that's very important no quistion is to silly or dumb, after all questions are answered and all participants satisfied , then cards should be passed out and signed the cards are nessesarry because they will be turned in to the NLRB stands for national labor relation board , the NLRB then notifies conway of your intent to be represented by the teamsters all cards will be verified and no conway will not know who signed a card and you cannot be fired or harassed, then 30 to 42 days is the time frame for a vote, then the fun starts union busters will show up , remember sign a card vote yes, all the other B.S. just ignore and use common sense, remember all the promises that were broken really were never meant to be anyway we were told lies to appease us anyway, now its time no more lies sign a card vote yes.
ReplyDeleteRegion manager coming Friday to "talk with" us and find out why were unhappy, our thoughts about LLA, our thoughts about the pension, wait, WTF what pension, now they want to talk about the pension, sounds like we're gonna get an earful of shit and they dont know it yet but they'll be talking to a brick wall, their time has passed for that, sorry conjob but its time to reap what you've sewn, how's it feel to be holding the shitty end of the stick for a change, not too great is it? Well good on you, spent too much time in the ivory tower and not enough in the trenches! I applaud every brave soul in LLA and victory is yours for the taking, ,,,, now take it!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe hell with Conway bring on the Union nrm is ready Richmond va
ReplyDeleteBring on the union in NRO, its time to get what we've earned.
ReplyDeleteyou bet the northeast is behind you, years ago Gerry Detter told us at orientation we will be very comfortable when we retire (close to millionaires) what happened? greed? lets jump on broad xbo, xrc, xsy, xbh. they don't even send the shareholders proxie out to us anymore. Making millions on our blood and guts We risk our lives everyday (when we get behind the wheel) for someone we don't even know laughing all the way to the bank. Took my pension, stole my vacation time, pay almost one hundred dollars a week for health benefits . Who doesn't need representation. Northeast region is behind you guys. Now lets go Chicago, Detroit, Pitt. Metro so called big union towns.
ReplyDeleteVamossssss larefo
DeleteLA MAFIA VS LOS GUERREROS JAJAJAJAJAJAJA ESTO NO SE HA ACABADO . QUÉ ESPERAN RAZA ARMENSE DE VALOR IGUAL QUÉ NOSOTROS , DALE MI LAREDO DALE HASTA EL FINAL
DeleteLets take a change . Unión unión yessss
ReplyDeleteIs unionizing Con-way the solution? I'm not sure I want to expand on this topic. I know that the corporate offices read our opinions and I hope that they take our thoughts into serious consideration when deciding the future of this company. It's up to them how much the wasp's nest will be disrupted.
ReplyDeleteThe last meeting with regional managers about the 2% raise and the pay scale separation between XPN and XDE (a distance between the two of only 45 miles) was baffling to us all. XPN and XDE fight the same traffic, fight the same seasons, fight the same everything. Why the difference in pay? Something like this has never happened before- and for good reason!
You took from the smaller establishment to give to the bigger establishment. How does that make sense?
That 2% raise doesn't even cover inflation and the cost of maintaining our insurance. We practically received nothing. What do you know about running a business? You talk amongst yourselves, resolve nothing, and make no positive changes. Maybe us blue collar workers don't know everything there is to know about running a business but you also don't know everything there is to running a business and that's why there are so many of you.
Maybe from the beginning we should have put the effort in to save money. We definitely need to lower our claims, especially freight that is destroyed in transportation. Also, we should get rid of the nearly 900 corporate cars that the bosses use. Tell me... how necessary are those? How much do you think it costs the company to insure and lease those cars? If they give up their cars, we can award them with monthly donations for helping the business out. Let them get a taste of hardship and reality for once.
With the corrections I've suggested, we'd already have millions of dollars saved. Where do you think they'll get millions of dollars to pay expensive lawyers to fight in court with unions? Out of your pocket and my pocket. Should we pay for their mistakes? Maybe the decision-makers who know everything should pay for those costs.
This is not how it should be! If you're expecting for us to become the best in the transportation industry then treat us as the best. Your thoughtless decisions are disrupting the morale and spirit within us so please don't expect us to accept and be happy about these potential changes.
Don't feed me hotdogs and hamburgers every couple of months when you just took away my family's steak dinner.
What other choice's do we have. I don't know how long you've been with the company . We've been lied to from the time we started working for Conway and present and future employees will experience the same. Were told our hard work and commitment and dedication makes Conway successful. Doug should ask for Greg's resignation for his poor leadership.
DeleteEveryone I've talked to over the situations pertaining to the so called raise and everything after cant blaim us for considering the union. These opinions come from the lowest paid LTL drivers to the highest, these men can't believe Conway threw this 8% in our faces after saying we were only getting 2% because we can retain help and other service centers can't. These men couldn't believe Conway had the balls to tell us that, well you have pissed off most off your hard working, dedicated and commited employees. You kept on taking until you shook our cages to much, bring on the union to NRO. We're ready to have some of the benefits our competetors have, and deffently ready for some the money they make. Not the competitive wages we have been lied to about sense most of us have been employeed by Conway.
ReplyDeleteHell off meeting to a lot off brothers on the same page so bring the best u got Conway we will put your fire out talk to the wall u have a better chance at that we stand our ground come sep 12 lla is going union and u can take that to the bank!
ReplyDeleteis it just me in the last 2 weeks G.O. has drug tested every driver with more than 10 years w/con-way I'm the seinor driver at our sic my logs have a full audit an know I am to have 2 check rides in the next week has this happened anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteI've been told by management random drug test is not random that's just a way to get driver under any type of drug and get us fire . management is an exception they get caught drinking and driving(dui) in company vehicles and they don't get reprimanded. A good example paul styers manager from ulx"mr. Safety" drinking and driving company vehicle and nothing was done.
ReplyDeleteXGH ALL IN
ReplyDeleteTime for a change Conway freight has screwed us around to long let's come together people and make it work vote yes nnc / nat and all the rest we have nothing to loose team union got to love it
ReplyDeleteThe time is now. If we don't seize the opportunity it will pass. Then we show the powers to be they can continue the process of economic destruction of the workers through under payment and over charging for the crappiest health insurance in the industry. What do we have to loose??? Let me guess a pension.......Sorry done lost that.
ReplyDeleteOk Enough talk about why we should. If you work at Con-Way you know why. Please Teamsters step up the movement around the nation. The time is now. If the Teamsters start at the Class one service centers the rest will follow. Everyone I talk to wants to organize now. I don't want LLA to fight this fight alone. We all have a horse in this race. Pass the cards out in Nashville Atlanta Roanoke Greenville Norcross Knoxville Roane. The drivers in the south are ready just try us and find out.
ReplyDeletePaul styers is nothing but a racist crook I worked with that hateful buster in san Fernando.
ReplyDeleteCome on miami,fl let's do this union. Better respect for drivers nd benefits. .let's vote for union representation
ReplyDeleteThe only way that this will work in the Southeast is to unionize NAT, MBM and NCL.
ReplyDeleteLETS DO IT DRIVERS, DONT LEAVE US ALONE IN THIS FIGHT IS NOT OVER. WE INVITE YOU TO FOLLOW US WE NEED YOUR COOPERATION TO DO THE PETITIONS SO WE CAN ENCOURANGE OTHERS TERMINALS , WE NEED TO BE MORE STRONG THE FIGHT IS NOT OVER, CONWAY JUST THINK IN THEM MONEY, THEY DONT CARE US , WHY WE HAVE TO CARE CONWAY QUÉ SE CHINGEN AHORA, SO WE HAVE TO DO THIS TOGETHER , WE HAVE TO FINISH WHAT WE STAR. VAMOS MI LAREDO NOSOTROS PODEMOS CON ESTÁ MAFIA
DeleteLet's go Miami vote for union let's get together on this ..we only need 51 votes
ReplyDeleteVote yes
ReplyDeleteWe need to vote yes for the union. If we don't get it right now. Conway is going to give us hell for trying to get a union. We all need to stick together as drivers an do this. ALL DRIVERS be careful talking around the ass kissing Drivers who tell management everything. We can do this
ReplyDeleteLets get the union once and for all.
ReplyDeleteCorporate big heads came to Atlanta location yesterday in efforts to stop this movement.. Stayed damn near all day holding meetings with supervisors and management
ReplyDeletewe maybe next, TAMPA
ReplyDeleteI wish to talk you
DeleteMiami, Fl everybody need to vote for union representation.. Nicole has to go... We need better management..
ReplyDeleteWell I have to comment on this. After reading this blog for a couple of weeks now Conway has a major problem. They have lost there way of thinking. Out with the old in with the new, only thing is the doesn't have clue of how to take care of its drivers. The 15yr plus to over 25 yr of service that are the bedrock of Conway and are treated as if they just started. What else we going to take,(vacation, pension, more costly benefits, less pay, cut incomes by cutting runs to outside carriers)we laid the foundation for this company
ReplyDelete. It was our sacrifices, not yours. We made this company what it is today and this new regime is tearing the natural fabric of our hard and long hours of dedication which they have seemed to have forgotten. Know its our time to be a team as we will have victory to vote yes for union representation.
This blog has given many many of us EVERYWHERE in our system all the reasons we should vote the union in EVERYWHERE, can anyone except the corporate masters find a compelling reason not to vote it in, I think not, if you do than you must be someone who doesn't know what we had but have no longer, we deserve what we had, we we're promised what we had and the co.is not interested in giving it back so we must have it returned to us by whatever means is available, third party representation is now a must, our will is strong and our numbers are strong, lets do this thing now brothers, lets do this NOW!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is right we use to get real profit sharing checks.... Now it all stays with the rich boys up north in Mich..don't get me wrong they throw there pennies down to us people they treat like animals... So I say NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS...VOTE TEAMSTER
DeleteSuggestion to the board of directors, fire Stotlar and Lehmkuhl and bring back Jerry Detter, someone who actually cared about the PEOPLE and the work we did and do EVERYDAY, no more being treated like a piece of trash maybe then this lousy company can call itself the industry leader but until then......
ReplyDeleteWhere here for u at xko in Indiana.. let's go get what they owe us...
ReplyDeleteLaredo you can make history here vote yes . Illinois is counting on you we are all tired of the we can do anything we want to you attitude ( 20+yr driver)
ReplyDeleteThe board of directors will not fire any of them . That's where the greed comes from.
ReplyDeleteLets keep it going we need terminal ' s every day to petition for a vote, get the number's needed and file I think 30 % is what the NLRB requires just do it and the rest will follow remember you have a maximum of 42 day's , that's plenty of time to counter conway's busting techniques let's be smart and win. Be wise organize, never settle for settle for less again.
ReplyDeleteXGR has had enough, where do we sign and how do we help?
ReplyDeleteXGR is ready to sign, how do we help?
ReplyDeleteContact your local teamsters hall they should know there is a movement going

ReplyDeletePLEASE LAREDO VOTE YES ON FRIDAY IF THIS DOESNT HAPPEN WE ALL LOSE . ITS TIME TO TAKE CONTROL OF WHAT WE HAVE LEFT OF A FUTURE.
ReplyDeleteLets go Laredo..We are behind you..100%

ReplyDeleteDo it Laredo vote yes ! We at NNA are watching this very close ... All it is going to take is ONE to start the process and others WILL join ! Good luck !
ReplyDeleteConway use to say that we had all the benefits the union offered and once upon a time we did, but they stripped us of everything but a paycheck. We didn't come to Conway for the name, most of us came to Conway for the benefits and the idea of a better life and a future even after we were done with our working years. That's what we signed on for, why we left other companies to come to Conway. Only to have it all takin from us without compensation, Conway has lost focus on the important things that keep this company operating. The customers and drivers keep this company going and keep the bonuses flowing into the executives pockets. It's time for a change, we need a voice and we to stand together, it's time for the union to be in Conway to represent the drivers.
ReplyDeleteI am also conway employee don't let management scare you that they are going to close doors or get fired when I started here we had free benefits and a pension plan and slowly they've been taken away everything from us... It's time to stop and go Union
ReplyDeleteCome on the Laredo we are waiting for u.. vote yes.... UBF is behind you 100%
ReplyDeleteGreat job lla voting yes... They stood strong .. so now we have to make sure it wasn't for nothing... let's get the word out ... And finish what they started... NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS
ReplyDeletegood job Laredo
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS IT !!! ITS TIME WE STAND FOR OURSELVES AND UNITE!!! VOTE YES!! WE WILL FINISH WHAT WE STARTED IF THINGS DONT WORK OUT IN TEXAS!!! >>>>>WE<<<<< HERE IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA ARE GOING IN THE PROCESS AS WELL. ITS A BROTHERHOOD AND WE WILL STICK TOGETHER!!! LOOK IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE. WE ARE ALL TIRED. LEME ADD THIS WE NEED TO STOP SNITCHING ON EACHOTHER THATS WHAT THEY WANT. THEY DONT LIKE SEEING GUYS GET ALONG FOR THE REASON OF FORMING A UNION. THAT SHIT STOPS NOW !! WE ALL GET ALONG FROM HERE ON OUT!!!

ReplyDeleteWWOOO BIG TERMINAL FIRST AND THEN SMALL TERMINAL JAJAJAJA, PROUD OF YOU LAREDO. USL , USM AND UVC ARE NEXT CENTRAL CALIFORNIA !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHope every Conway terminal file for union representation.. Better wages for everybody, pension, overtime after 8 hrs, free insurance etc... Now nobody has job secure in this planet....
ReplyDeleteIt cost Conway 50mil+ to put cameras in the trucks. Why? So they can fire you. This money could have been used for
ReplyDeletepensions, insurance and pay raises. This tells you how considerate they are of the employees.
Well we had the VP of operations for the Eastern region show up at NRO. He was well schooled on what to say and not to say, he didn't realize that he pissed off more drivers than he thought. He was very to the point that he didn't want us making hasty decisions. He kept telling us they were going to fix the raise problem...over and over..and over. He also made a statement saying if we didn't like how things were going that we could go elsewhere. Then our Eastern region manager made statements that the union was responsible for the downfall of YRC and others. Needless to say we all had smoke blown up our butts the last couple of days. We definitely need representation to save us from these lies and so called promises.
ReplyDeleteula let vote union we have been treated like little Conway bitch for so long that we think it normal it a great man once said "it better to dei on your feet then live on knees "
