Why do we need a union in here? Well, things are not good and if anything they’re getting worse. Sure we have an “open door policy,” but I would love to hear from someone who has benefited from it. Let’s look at some of the reasons why we need union representation. As Teamsters we will participate in our contract negotiations and finally have a real say in our future. How about sick days? Imagine having sick days just like the majority of the work force. It's ridiculous that we don’t have sick days, even more so that we get written up or are told calling sick is an unexcused absence. If you don’t want any kinds of warnings in your file you better not get sick. If organized we would be able to use our sick days whenever we want!
How about better benefits? Currently paying over $100 a week for benefits. Those of us who are supporting families on this coverage kiss 20% of your paycheck goodbye. As Teamsters we would have better health and benefit packages negotiated for us. There would be no way we would be giving up 20% of our paycheck away.
What about retirement? Yeah, we would actually get the chance to RETIRE from Conway! 401k is a joke, that money being "invested." Anything being tied up to the performance of the stock market is too risky to count on for our retirement. We need a pension that the company puts money into, that we know will be there no matter what. We help this company make record profits and all we get is a 2.5% raise. Then they turn around and will increase what we pay for our health and benefits.
It’s time to organize!
If you call in sick, and the next day you bring in a Doctors excuse, Conway or any other corporate can't reprimand you or point you out for grounds of termination.
ReplyDeleteSave all your doctors excuses, because when you file charges with the Labor board, company can't hold the absentee that are excuse by a doctors note.
But a inexcusable absentee that does not have a doctors excuse, can be reprimanded by the company, you have no sanctuary without a doctors excuse.
Be wise and organize!
At ABF we get 5 sick days per year and can use them whether were sick or not and get paid for for those days and they count as credit torwards are Pension and medical.Thank God for my Union and my Union Brothers sticking together.
ReplyDeletewe've been told by management,we're just a number at Conway
ReplyDeleteYes that is right we need to unionize, because here in Laredo we had a problem with a former manager Rudy that abused his power (ex. went to check on you during your breaks to see how long you where taking on your them), we need to put a stop on these a**holes that think because they have a title by can abuse their power. By unionizing you do not have to be afraid to speak up to the injustice that you are suffering
ReplyDeleteWe need to organize, you cannot be afraid to speak your mind standing alone you may be afraid to do so but you have to remember that a united front is stronger than an individual. We here at Laredo had an a**hole of a manger Rudy, that abused his title. By showing a united front we were able to put an end to his crap. Brothers please be smart and unionize.
ReplyDeleteWe need a Union cause when the company holds meetings and you have Questions they let you answer them without fear of getting written up! Todd does not let people speak at his safety meetings what a dusch bag.. With love from LAX try to shout me up Todd...
ReplyDeleteI second the motion with todd liverman no freedom of speech in the safety meetings to speak but to make u feel be little at meetings. And covering his ass from getting in trouble. You v.p.'s in california think he is doing a great job. Think again because when the eeoc comes knocking in the front door of conway in dallas,tx . We will find out the truth of tod the great ¡!!!!!!
