UNION DUES

BY Okie from Tulsa

Let’s talk about union dues. the political regime in Indiana are making a big deal about paying union dues, yes we will pay union dues that no secret, and what are those dues for? I will tell you they are for representation, examples are getting a contract, I mean dang who do any of us know that can negotiate a written contract for what we do. each contract is different for every profession, and further more if you have a problem on the job, let’s say mgt wants to terminate your employment for whatever reason now it may be justified or it may not be, maybe mgt wants to terminate you to make an example and yes it’s done believe it or not, thats were the teamsters come in, they represent our best interest ,thats what companies do not want, they want us under their thumb so they can do as they please and keep everyone scared of them for fear of being terminated at will.ok now we all pay taxes and those taxes are for representation, if I’m wrong about that please tell me, if you get in trouble with the law what do you do what's easy get a lawyer and what does that lawyer do? another easy one he or she represents you and that cost money they dont work for free,so why would anyone expect the teamsters to represent us for free? why don’t we all send a message to the U.S. government and tell them we will no longer be paying for representation, one more thing let’s send a message to the state we live in especially the right to work states and tell them the same thing, and that is we want representation for free no more taxes if they say no then they are hypocrites just like the CEO'S that run the company's so at Conway we have not had a pay increase in going on 5 years our medical went to the dogs it’s getting to the point where we won’t be able to afford it, our pension was taken away, jobs are going to outside carrier's I for one would be glad to pay the teamsters for representation so with all that said VOTE YES FOR REPRESENTATION,VOTE TEAMSTERS.HAVE A TRUE VOICE IN THE COMPANY YOU WORK FOR.

We should have a written contract

by okie from tulsa

Let's talk about what a written contract is. that's a easy one for us,oh yea we don't have one,at least not at con-way 'yet 'but wait our CEO has one and all his buddies and their buddies. so why can't we have one? after all,we all know what defines a written contract and that is how it's written. contracts have certain rules and obligations, and that works both ways. but companies don't want us to have one because they do not want to abide by it. the reasons are if they want to cut our wages, benefits or terminate without just 'cause they can, where does that take us? that's easy there definition of "right to work" now with a contract we will have true "right to work" it's up to us the workers, the company cannot take collective bargaining from us.NOW WE ALL KNOW WHAT RIGHT TO WORK MEANS AND THAT IS COLLECTIVE BARGAINING,VOTE YES FOR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING. GO TEAMSTERS.TEAMSTERS TO WIN.

USING STRENGTH IN NUMBERS TO RECLAIM THE AMERICAN DREAM

From Change To Win

What the wealthy and well-connected figured out is that they have strength in numbers:  the numbers of dollars they contribute to politicians. It’s time working and middle class Americans use our strength in numbers to reclaim the American Dream. We need a counterweight to the power of big money – and that’s the power of big numbers, the power of ordinary people who work for a living demanding to have our voices heard – from the workplace to Washington.
That is why over 5.5 million workers united to create Change to Win – if corporations can join together to hire an army of lobbyists, working and middle class Americans must also band together and restore balance by making sure we have a strong voice and a seat at the table again.
Through innovative organizing campaigns in the private-sector economy, we work every day to ensure that working and middle class Americans can use our strength in numbers to reclaim the American Dream – a good American job with good American benefits for everyone who wants it.

Don't MESS with Texas you s.o.b.!!!!

V.P. Coming here to Texas was a big mistake . What a waste of time. In one week you had every freakin personal vp in every terminal trying to brain watch drivers. All the way to Laredo,tx where they normally dont show up. 7 guys and one talker what a waste . No, shaking hands didn't really give us a chance to ask anything. As, they were looking at their watches. They went out the door and did not turn back. Well, its time to organinze. Get your spouses involved. Why, do i need to look for another job?

Union Movement Still Alive

by Pumpkinsocks
Truckingboard says the Union Movement at Conway is Dead. The truckingboard is infested with Conway management waste. They will try to deny or water down the union organizing at Conway. That's why they got the usual suspects commenting on the trucking board and falsely commenting against the union. You don't have to be a genius to notice the same guys, beerfd, highspeed, whiteshirt, and idgarrett, are not drivers. They are management or union busters . But you're right okie, they don't have any idea about what it is to be a driver under these vicious company policies and injustices. This is why we created this blog, to expose these liars and educate drivers what it means to be a union member or a Teamster. Conway can create stupid so called VVT committees and make some of those drivers believe they're being heard. What these drivers don't know is that they are being used as union busters.
There's a reason that the trucking board doesn't allow union talk on the Conway forum. It's because it's moderated by people that want only the pro-company talk. They use it to see who is for and who is against the company.

Okie from Tulsa on Facts About ‘Right to Work’

Right to work,is nothing more than a political way of misleading the american workers, its all funded by the greedy ceo's.it's true right to work means you do not have to join a union to work for a company, but they failed to tell the voters, the company has the right to terminate you're employment at will, and they have the right to not give you a cost of living increase, they have the right to do what ever will put you in the poor house and keep them in there mansion, funny how they forgot to tell the voters all that.now that we have been educated, lets send the greedy ceo's a message and tell them right to work is just wrong, and we can do that by voting in the teamsters for all the right reasons.vote YES for the teamsters when it gets to your terminal, enough of corprate greed.

THIS IS A NONPARTISAN JOKE THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY BOTH PARTIES!

From Change Fedex To Win

While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. "Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you." "No problem, just let me in," says the man. "Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity." "Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the senator. "I'm sorry, but we have our rules." And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him. Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne. Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises... The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him. "Now it's time to visit heaven." So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns. "Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity." The senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell." So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above. The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. "I don't understand," stammers the senator. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?" The devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning...... Today you voted."
